Eglin’s Capsule being refurbished - need help

Mr. John (Chuck) Yeager, Air Force Armament Museum Specialist, at Eglin AFB is in the process of refurbishing portions of the ABCCC capsule they have on display there.

He would like to be contacted by anyone who may have knowledge of the capsule and how it’s all put together.

You don’t need to be Capsule Maintenance to help… he would like to hear from anyone who might have an interest in helping him understand what he’s dealing with.

Currently, he’s coordinated full refurbishment of the upholstery by an Eglin AFB contractor - at no cost to the museum.  This is a significant undertaking… all seats and headrests will be refinished.

He has also obtained a Moonbeam Party Suit from the late 1960’s/early 1970’s that is being prepared for mannequin display later on this year.

I visited the museum yesterday on a trip through Ft. Walton.  I recommend it to anyone near or passing by Eglin AFB.  It’s about 35 miles off of I-10 for those of you moving through the panhandle of Florida on the Interstate.  It’s a quick down and back from I-10 and well worth the side trip.  There is much more at the museum than just one of our capsules.  Many aircraft on display as well as a large and interesting collection of indoor displays of USAF weaponry.

Here is Chuck’s contact info:
