Title: Sad News
Message:It’s my sad duty to report that retired Major Rod Schack, an ABCCC AIO from 1994-97, passed away December 9th in Suffolk, VA.  His obituary was published in today’s edition of the Norfolk, VA Pilot.

Rod was one of my students toward the end of my tour in the 7th/42nd ACCS. Rod was one of my students toward the end of my tour in the 7th/42nd ACCS. He was one of the nicest guys you’d ever want to meet, and a talented AIO to boot.  In 1994, not long after he arrived at D-M, he was part of our ADVON team to Dhaharn during Vigilant Warrior.  Though new to the squadron, he did yeoman work in the beddown of our aircraft and crews at that location.  I also had a chance to work with him during the invasion of Haiti, when I ran the squadron MPC.  He later flew combat/combat support missions as a crew member over Bosnia, and after retiring from active duty, he worked as a civilian contractor here at Langley AFB.

Rod leaves behind a wife and three young children.  His memorial service will be held tomorrow (15 Dec) at 1430L at the Base Chapel. Most of the former ABCCC types in the local area plan to attend.  If you’d like to send a condolence card, please e-mail me, and I’ll send you the mailing address.

He will be missed.
